At Blue Dot we believe that small things create big results and that every business can make a difference. As a Business Member of the Buy1GIVE1 programme each month we make a contribution to a different worthy cause - either here in New Zealand or overseas - based on the number of clients we have worked with.

This month we'll give children a book, automatically.

Books of all kinds play a critical role in a child's development. Unfortunately, in China there are very few books beyond school textbooks found in most rural elementary schools that the students can read. It's a terrible thing for a child to grow up without having access to the educational tools and resources that many of us take for granted. In August 2010 when you use Our Services, attend one of Our Events or buy our HR Toolkit, you'll help the The Library Project, an American charity based out of Xi'an, China to rectify this problem one book at a time.

Some Kiwi kids don't have the basic needs required to attend school, ready to learn and reach their full potentials. In July 2010 we helped the KidsCan Charitable Trust to provide a child with an adidas All Blacks raincoat, quality shoes and socks and nutritious food for a day.

... given 80 bricks to build a home for a family in India!

Two third of India's 1.1 billion population live in rural areas, with 260 million below the poverty line earning less than a $ 1 (Rs. 45) a day. In June 2010 we provided 80 bricks to Habitat For Humanity to build a home for one family among 315 million Indians who lack a decent place to call home.

... given 2 school students in Tanzania learning materials like books, chalks and pens!

There are 90 million children worldwide who are not in school and only 2% of disabled children in developing countries receive an education. In May 2010 we gave 2 school students in Tanzania learning materials like books, chalks and pens.

... given 4 people access to clean water for a year! 

Hand-Dug Water Wells in the northern province of Tigray, Ethiopia reduce the average daily water collection time by about 3 hours and effectively eliminates up to 20% of children under 5 dying from water borne diseases. In April 2010 we gave 4 people access to clean water for a year.

... fed 25 children in New Zealand! 

Kiwi kids living in poverty can never be sure of receiving three meals a day. By receiving nutritious food at schools children are able to concentrate and participate fully in class and are therefore in a better position to learn and reach their full potential. In March 2010 we fed 25 children in New Zealand.

...saved 600m2 of rainforest in Ecuador!

The Andean Cloud Forests of Ecuador are in grave danger from the constant threat of logging, mining and farming. The creation of the Choco-Andean Rainforest Corridor in Ecuador protects threatened rainforests and creates a vital link between the Andean Cloud Forests and the lowland forests of the Awa Ethnic Reserve. In February 2010, we saved 600m2 of rainforest in Ecuador.
